Abdullah Avcı — Biography

Abdullah Avcı is a Turkish football manager and former professional footballer, born on 31 July 1963 in Istanbul. He began his playing career in Vefaspor's youth system and went on to represent clubs such as Karagümrük, Çaykur Rizespor, Kasımpaşa, and İstanbulspor before retiring from playing in 1999 and moving into coaching.

His managerial career took him through Galatasaray's youth setup before he led Turkey's under-17 national team to a European championship and a third-place finish at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2005. He then managed İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor (later renamed İstanbul Başakşehir) from 2006 to 2011, followed by a two-year spell in charge of the senior Turkey national team. After returning to Başakşehir from 2014 to 2019, he took charge of Beşiktaş and then Trabzonspor in 2020, guiding the Black Sea club to its first Süper Lig title in the 2021–22 season with 81 points.

Avcı left Trabzonspor in March 2023, and throughout 2026 he has said in interviews that he is ready for a new head coaching role and is awaiting an offer.
