Abdullah Oğuz — Biography
Abdullah Oğuz, born on 17 June 1958 in Istanbul, is a Turkish film and television director, screenwriter and producer. After studying economics at Marmara University he settled in the United States, founding ANS International in New York in 1983 and building a career producing commercials. Back in Turkey he launched ANS Prodüksiyon and partnered with international companies such as Fremantle International, adapting numerous game-show formats for Turkish television and helping bring the country's first daily soap operas and its first homegrown sitcom to the screen.
From the 1990s he moved from advertising and television production into feature filmmaking. As director and producer his credits include Asmalı Konak, O Şimdi Mahkum and Mutluluk (Bliss), an adaptation of a novel by Zülfü Livaneli, and he has received six Golden Butterfly Awards over his career.
More recently he directed the Netflix series Mezarlık (Graveyard) and the Fenerbahçe-themed film Zaferin Rengi, and in 2026 began filming a new Netflix series, İstanbul Hatırası, adapted from a novel by Ahmet Ümit.
