Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan — Biography
Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan (11 September 1994, Yavuzeli, Gaziantep – 7 February 2023, Malatya) was a Turkish professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Standing 1.89 m tall, he began his senior career with Bugsaşspor in 2013, then joined Osmanlıspor on loan for the 2016–17 season, making his professional debut against Beşiktaş on 3 June 2017. He subsequently signed permanently with Osmanlıspor, staying for three seasons and appearing in 29 matches. In 2020 he moved to Ümraniyespor, where he spent a year and made 16 appearances, before signing with Yeni Malatyaspor on 7 February 2021 and playing six matches for the club before his death.
On 6 February 2023, during the earthquakes centred on Kahramanmaraş, the building he was staying in at Malatya collapsed and he was trapped under the rubble. Club president Hacı Ahmet Yaman initially denied reports of his death, but head coach Yılmaz Vural announced on 7 February that Türkaslan had died; some sources give the date of death as 6 February. His wife, Kübra Türkaslan, was pulled out alive and appealed for help on camera. He was 28. His shirt was retired by Yeni Malatyaspor in 2025 in his memory.
