Ali Şaşal Vural — Biography
Ali Şaşal Vural is a Turkish goalkeeper born on 10 July 1990 in the Konak district of İzmir. Encouraged by his elder brother Çağdaş, he began playing football at Altay S.K.'s youth academy at the age of 13 and signed his first professional contract in 2010, breaking into the first team. He made his official debut for Altay on 8 May 2010 against Konyaspor, and became the club's first-choice goalkeeper from the second half of the 2010-11 season; press reports at the time noted a transfer bid from Beşiktaş.
In summer 2014 he moved to Eskişehirspor as a free agent, making 14 appearances over two seasons, before transferring to Sivasspor in summer 2016, where he spent the longest stretch of his career and won the Turkish Cup in the 2021-22 season. In 2015 he received his first call-up to the senior Turkey national team, for a UEFA Euro 2016 qualifier and a friendly against Bulgaria.
Standing 1.87 m tall, Vural was handed a 12-month suspension by the disciplinary board (PFDK) on 13 November 2025 over the football betting investigation; his appeal to the Turkish Football Federation was rejected, and Sivasspor parted ways with him before the end of the year.
