Alişan — Biography

Alişan (born Serkan Burak Tektaş; 19 June 1976 in Istanbul) is a Turkish arabesque-pop singer, television presenter and actor. Born in the Şişhane neighbourhood of Beyoğlu, his family hails from Bingöl and is of Zaza descent.

After attending Kuvay-ı Milliye primary school, Özel Şişli Koleji and Özel Evrim Lisesi, he studied at the Istanbul Technical University Conservatory. His 1997 album Sana Bir Şey Olmasın marked his breakthrough, and he went on to release many arabesque-pop albums.

As an actor he became widely known as Ferhat in the television series Cennet Mahallesi (2004), a spin-off of the film Gırgıriye; he also appeared in series such as Aynalı Tahir, Eyvah Babam, Aşkına Eşkıya, Mert ile Gert and Dostlar Mahallesi, and works as a TV presenter.
