Arda Turan — Biography

Arda Turan was born in İstanbul in 1987. He began his football career at the age of 8 with Altıntepsi Makelspor, the amateur team of Bayrampaşa. At the age of 12, he transferred to Galatasaray's youth academy and made his first official appearance in 2005 in a match against Bursaspor. In the second half of the 2005–2006 season he was loaned to Vestel Manisaspor, where he scored his first goal in a match against Ankaragücü. He then returned to Galatasaray and began serving as the team's captain in the 2009–2010 season. With the Galatasaray jersey he won the Turkish Cup, the Turkish Süper Lig and the Turkish Super Cup. Transferring to Madrid in 2011, Arda Turan won many titles and also played a major role in his team reaching the final by scoring the goal in the 2014 UEFA Champions League semi-final. In 2015 he transferred to Barcelona, where he too achieved many successes. In 2018 he transferred to Başakşehir.
