Barış Ataş — Biography
Barış Ataş was born on 1 February 1987 in the Kulp district of Diyarbakır. He began playing football with Diyarbakır Et Balıkspor before joining Diyarbakırspor's youth academy in 2002, where he spent four seasons across various age groups. He was promoted to the first team under coach Nejat Biyediç and made his official debut in a cup match against Giresunspor on 21 December 2005, later earning regular starts under Faruk Hadžibegić.
His career was interrupted by two long lay-offs from knee ligament injuries, yet he rose to become team captain in the 2009-10 season and Diyarbakırspor's most-used player that year. Linked with both Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor in 2010, he signed a 3+1 year contract with Trabzonspor on 22 June 2010 and won the Turkish Super Cup with the club; his mobility earned him the press nickname "atom ant." He spent the 2011-12 season on loan at Mersin İdmanyurdu before parting ways with Trabzonspor.
Ataş transferred to Adanaspor in 2013, later played for Manisa Büyükşehir Belediyespor, and joined Amed Sportif Faaliyetler in 2018, where he spent the closing years of his career. He began his national-team career with Turkey's under-19 squad in 2006.
