Burak Güven — Biography

Burak Güven was born in October 1975 in Istanbul. He got his first guitar at 14 and, a year later, sang in a band called "Virüs," keeping up occasional collaborations with its guitarist, Erke Erokay. He switched to bass guitar in 1993, the same year he enrolled in the vocal department of Istanbul University's State Conservatory, graduating in 2000. During this period he was a founding member of İstanbul Blues Kumpanyası, played bass on the album "Kökler," and performed at numerous concerts.

Between 1996 and 1998 he sang as a chorus member in the opera "Aşk İksiri," the musical "Anlat Şehrazat," and on Fahir Atakoğlu's symphonic-concert album, all staged at the CRR Concert Hall; he also joined the band Nekropsi at a music festival in France, running the sampler, and has continued to work occasionally with that band's Tolga Yenilmez. In January 2009 he produced Ayça Şen's album "Astronot," co-writing several of its songs. He is best known today as bassist and backing vocalist for the rock band Mor ve Ötesi.

In interviews given in 2024, he said he had released a solo album titled "18," a long-held plan, describing it as a work touching on loss, birth, regret and personal growth.
