Can Akın — Biography
Fikret Can Akın is a Turkish basketball figure born on 30 January 1983 in Istanbul. Standing 1.90 m tall, he played at the point guard position and turned professional in 2002.
After stints at Galatasaray, Efes Pilsen, Olin Edirne and İstanbul BŞB, he moved to Beşiktaş ahead of the 2011-12 season. He impressed in his early weeks with Beşiktaş, but a knee injury then kept him out for a long stretch. Despite that, he shared in the club's Turkish Basketball League, Turkish Cup and FIBA Eurochallenge Cup titles that season, and at the start of the following season was part of the squad that won Beşiktaş's first-ever Turkish President's Cup, reaching the EuroLeague Top 16 with the team. His performance in the 2010-2011 season had already earned him a place on the Beko All-Star roster.
At the start of the 2013-14 season, as Beşiktaş went through a rebuild, he left to join Türk Telekom, a club aiming to build a strong roster. After retiring as a player he moved into coaching and continues to serve as an assistant coach for Türk Telekom.
