Cenk Gönen — Biography

Cenk Gönen is a Turkish goalkeeper born on 21 February 1988 in İzmir, and the nephew of former Turkey international goalkeeper Ali Artuner. He finished secondary school at Denizlispor College after starting at İzmir İnönü High School, and went on to study at Ege University's School of Physical Education and Sport as well as the business faculty of Anadolu University.

Standing 1.90 m tall, Gönen built a well-traveled club career that took him through Altay, Denizlispor, Göztepe, Beşiktaş and Galatasaray in Turkey, a spell in Spain with Malaga on a three-year deal, and later stints at Kayserispor and Çorluspor 1947. He also earned caps for several of Turkey's youth national teams as well as a handful of appearances for the senior side, and was known throughout his career for his reflexes and vocal leadership from goal.
