Çetin Zeybek — Biography

Born on 12 September 1932 in Bandırma, Çetin Zeybek became one of the recognizable midfielders of Turkish football during his playing days. In his club career he wore the colors of İstanbul sides Feriköy and Kasımpaşa, and his many years at the latter left him closely associated with the club.

He also represented Turkey at international level, forming part of the national squad that competed at the 1954 FIFA World Cup, where he appeared in two matches. After retiring from active football, Zeybek returned to his hometown of Bandırma, where he helped develop the local game and, together with other prominent figures of the city, took part in founding the club Bandırmaspor.

He died on 10 November 1990 in Bandırma, the city of his birth, leaving a lasting mark on the town's football history both as a player and as a club founder.
