Demet Akalın — Biography
Demet Akalın was born in 1974 in Gölcük.
After graduating from Barbaros Hayrettin High School, she attended the Yaşar Alptekin modelling course and was chosen swimsuit beauty in 1990.
Demet Akalın, who began modelling with Neşe Erberk's agency, later started performing on stage in nightclubs.
In 1996 she released her first album, Sebebim Sensin, but did not achieve the success she had hoped for.
Afterwards she made a breakthrough with the song Aşkın Açamadığı Kapı and received the Song of the Year award.
With the successful albums she released, she managed to prove herself in pop music and took her place among Turkey's best-selling albums.
Demet Akalın, who is also very much a subject of the tabloid agenda, has approximately 5.5 million followers on social media.
