Demet Özdemir — Biography

Demet Özdemir is one of the faces of the international rise of Turkish dramas: her role as Sanem in Erkenci Kuş reached audiences in Italy, Spain, Latin America and the United States, and Doğduğun Ev Kaderindir was licensed to more than 90 countries. A former dancer, she most recently played the singer Nisan Akyol in Eşref Rüya, performing songs for the part.

She came to the stage through dance: after moving to Istanbul with her mother and sister she took dance classes, joined the dance team of Bengü and the group Efes Kızları, and appeared in music videos by Mustafa Sandal and Bengü. She studied acting for two years and made her first series, Sana Bir Sır Vereceğim, in 2013. Kurt Seyit ve Şura, Çilek Kokusu and No: 309 raised her profile, and Tut Sözünü and Sen Kiminle Dans Ediyorsun? took her into film. Erkenci Kuş (2018-2019) was the turning point of her career.

Later she moved toward streaming platforms: Aslı in Netflix's Aşk Taktikleri (2022) and Aşk Taktikleri 2 (2023), İlkin in Disney+'s Dünyayla Benim Aramda, and Farah in Adım Farah, for which she received a PRODU Award in 2025; her Erkenci Kuş performance had earned her the Murex d'Or for best actress. With Eşref Rüya in 2025 she also began releasing music. Özdemir married the musician and actor Oğuzhan Koç in 2022; they divorced in 2023.
