Deniz Tekin — Biography

Born Hatice Deniz Tekin on 7 June 1997 in İzmir, the musician's interest in music began at age eight with piano and flute lessons. After playing in several local bands during her school years, she started performing live in small cafés at sixteen, sharing original recordings and cover versions online under the alias "Daphead" before releasing her debut studio album Kozakuluçka in 2017.

In 2024 she spoke publicly about the precarious conditions facing musicians and stepped back from commercial music-making to work as an English teacher. She never fully left the stage, however: she performed with a string quartet in late 2025, and made headlines again in June 2026 after cutting short a concert in Muğla amid an on-stage dispute over sound levels.
