Ekrem İmamoğlu — Biography

Ekrem İmamoğlu was born in 1970 in Trabzon. After completing his education in the English Business Administration Department of İstanbul University, he earned a master's degree in the Human Resources and Management department of İstanbul University. He began his working life in the family company and continued by serving as Chairman of the Board. His political career began in 2009 when he was elected CHP Beylikdüzü District Chairman. In the local elections of 30 March 2014, he was elected Mayor of Beylikdüzü. In the local elections of 31 March 2019, he was elected Mayor of the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality, but by decision of the Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) it was ruled that the elections be repeated.
