Emrah Eren — Biography
Emrah Eren (born 13 November 1978 in Istanbul) is a Turkish retired footballer who played as a full-back. He started out at Gaziosmanpaşa, moved to İstanbulspor as an amateur in 1993, and turned professional there in the 1995-96 season, before loan spells at Kartalspor (21 appearances) and Adanaspor, where he made 90 appearances up to 1999 and drew wider attention.
He joined Galatasaray in 1999 and, despite injuries limiting his first-season playing time, was part of the squad that won the UEFA Cup, the Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup in the same season, featuring in the European run's tie against Hertha Berlin. After loan spells at İstanbulspor and Gaziantepspor he transferred to Kocaelispor in 2002-03 and then to Trabzonspor in 2003-04, where over two and a half seasons he stood out as one of the side's most accurate passers and ball-playing defenders and won the Turkish Cup. Later in his career he played for Malatyaspor, Çaykur Rizespor, Gaziantepspor and Giresunspor, a stretch repeatedly disrupted by injuries. In 2011-12 he was part of the Akhisar Belediyespor squad that won the 1. Lig title and promotion to the Süper Lig, and he went on to captain the team.
At international level he was a Turkey U-21 international, finishing runner-up at the 1997 Mediterranean Games after a final defeat to Italy; he is also said to have appeared for the Turkey U-17 side.
