Emre Aydın — Biography
Emre Aydın is a Turkish rock singer-songwriter born on 2 February 1981 in Isparta. After his family relocated to Antalya, he studied economics at Dokuz Eylül University in İzmir. He first rose to prominence as the lead singer of the rock band 6. Cadde, which won the Sing Your Song competition in 2002, when their track Dönersen was also selected for a Universal Music compilation. The band released an album in 2003, but Aydın left shortly afterward to pursue a solo career.
His debut solo album, Afili Yalnızlık, came out in 2006 through Sony BMG and GRGDN, and its title track topped the Turkish charts. An exceptionally active live performer, he played well over a hundred concerts in 2007 alone. In 2008 he won the MTV Europe Music Award for Europe's Favourite Act, earning him international recognition. He remains one of Turkey's most prominent touring rock musicians.
