Emre Aydın — Biography
Emre Aydın was born on 2 February 1981 in Isparta to two pharmacist parents; he has a younger brother named Yiğit. He first took up the saz before switching to guitar, graduated from Antalya Anadolu Lisesi, and studied economics at Dokuz Eylül University. With the band 6. Cadde, formed with Onur Ela, he won the 2002 Sing Your Song songwriting contest with the track Dönersen; after the group's sole album in 2003 it disbanded and Aydın launched a solo career. His 2006 debut solo album Afili Yalnızlık, released through Sony BMG and GRGDN, was a major success that brought him more than fifty awards and, in 2008, the titles of Turkey's and then Europe's favourite act at the MTV Europe Music Awards. He continued with the 2010 album Kağıt Evler, the 2012 duet single Soğuk Odalar with Gülden Mutlu, and the 2013 album Eylül Geldi Sonra. In 2016 he married his long-time girlfriend, interior architect Eda Köksal. He remains one of Turkey's most frequently touring rock musicians.
