Emre Güngör — Biography
Fehmi Emre Güngör was born on 1 August 1984 in Istanbul and began playing football at the age of eleven in the youth ranks of Bakırköyspor. By the age of seventeen he had drawn the attention of Süper Lig clubs; he started his professional career at MKE Ankaragücü, went out on a brief loan to Türk Telekom, then returned to Ankaragücü for four more seasons, eventually captaining the side.
He moved to Galatasaray midway through the 2007-08 season, quickly settled into the centre-back role, and won the Süper Lig and Süper Kupa titles that year. In 2010 he transferred to Gaziantepspor, where he served as team captain and played in UEFA Europa League fixtures. He later turned out for Antalyaspor, Karabükspor and Eskişehirspor before signing a one-year contract with Bandırmaspor in 2016, where he ended his playing career.
Güngör represented Turkey at various youth levels before being capped 61 times overall for the national teams. He scored his first goal for the senior side on 3 March 2010 in a friendly against Honduras, assisted by his Galatasaray teammate Arda Turan. He was also part of the Turkey squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2008.
