Erdin Demir — Biography

Erdin Demir, born Demirovski on 27 March 1990 in Malmö, is a Swedish former footballer of Turkish descent; it was his father, who played in an amateur league, who first drew him toward the sport. He joined the Malmö FF academy at age six and spent twelve years there, breaking into the first team in 2008 and scoring the winning goal on his debut, a 3-2 Svenska Cupen win over Kristianstad. He was then loaned to IFK Malmö before moving to LB07, where he made 33 appearances as a left back and winger.

After returning to the Allsvenskan with Trelleborg in early 2011, where despite relegation he was nominated for Newcomer of the Year, he signed with Norwegian club Brann in December 2011, where he was praised as a full back who was both offensively productive and defensively steady. In the 2013-14 window his profile, boosted by the non-EU quota rule, drew interest from Süper Lig clubs including Galatasaray, but in 2015 he moved to Belgium's SV Zulte Waregem, where he played until retiring in early 2022.

Demir represented Sweden at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level before being called up to the senior side by Erik Hamrén in December 2011; he made his debut against Qatar on 23 January 2012 and won six caps between 2012 and 2014.
