Erol Babaoğlu — Biography

Erol Babaoğlu is a stage-trained Turkish film and television actor best known recently for playing Ölü Yaşar in Kanal D's Eşref Rüya in 2026 and for his role the same year in the HBO Max series Kaosun Anatomisi. He was born in Istanbul on 22 June 1977.

After Cağaloğlu Anadolu High School, he completed a degree in Public Relations at Istanbul University's Faculty of Communication and trained in theatre from 1996 to 1999 at Şahika Tekand's Stüdyo Oyuncuları. He went on to perform with the Istanbul City Theatre and the Theatre Research Laboratory under directors including Beklan Algan, Mehmet Ulusoy and Theodoros Terzopoulos, appearing at several international theatre festivals.

He made his film debut in 2001 in Yazgı and later appeared in films such as Mutluluk, Zincirbozan, Araf and Kurak Günler; his performances in Daire and Kurak Günler earned him supporting-actor awards at the Ankara and Antalya film festivals.

He continues to work as a manager and instructor at the Theatre Research Laboratory and has served as coordinator of a contemporary theatre education program at the Istanbul Drama Art Academy.
