Ertuğrul Sağlam — Biography
Ertuğrul Sağlam, born on 19 November 1969 in Karadeniz Ereğli, Zonguldak, is a Turkish football manager and former international player. After completing his schooling in Ereğli, he studied metallurgical engineering at Yıldız Technical University while playing in Fenerbahçe's youth setup, though he began his professional career at Gaziantepspor in 1986. He then spent nine years across two spells with Samsunspor, helping the club win promotion to the top flight.
In 1994 he joined Beşiktaş for what was then a record fee in Turkish football. Over six seasons he scored 103 goals in 167 league appearances, and his 28 goals in his first campaign carried the club to the championship; under John Toshack he also played as a central defender. He earned 30 caps and scored 11 goals for Turkey, and was part of the Euro 1996 squad. He retired from playing in 2003.
The UEFA Pro Licensed coach began his managerial career at Samsunspor, won the 2006 Intertoto Cup with Kayserispor, and took charge of Beşiktaş. Appointed at Bursaspor in January 2009, he led the club to its first-ever Süper Lig title in the 2009-10 season. He also managed Iran's Tractor Tabriz in two separate spells and most recently coached Kocaelispor.
