Fadi El Khatib — Biography
Fadi El Khatib was born on 18 December 1979 in the town of Chehim (Shheem), Lebanon. Nicknamed the "Lebanese Tiger" and "Abu Jihad", the 1.98-meter-tall player began his career with Sagesse SC in the Lebanese Basketball League.
Over a long career he also played professionally for several other Lebanese clubs as well as abroad in Syria, Ukraine and China, while representing Lebanon's national team from 1998 to 2017. He led Lebanon to the final of the FIBA Asia Championship three times, in 2001, 2005 and 2007, and competed with the national team at the FIBA World Championship in 2002, 2006 and 2010.
Regarded as one of the leading figures in Asian basketball, El Khatib was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2025.
