Fatih Atik — Biography
Fatih Atik (born 25 February 1984 in Gleizé, France) is a French-Turkish former footballer, born to a family that had emigrated to France, who played as an attacking midfielder. Holding both French and Turkish citizenship, he was eligible to play as a homegrown player in either country.
Atik joined Montpellier's youth academy at age seven, spent ten years at the club and made his professional debut there in the 2003-04 season, gradually earning a larger role. At the end of the 2006-07 season he signed a three-year contract with Sivasspor, but found no opportunities at Montpellier under new coach Rolland Courbis and moved to Tours FC as a free agent in the 2007-08 winter window. At Tours he played alongside the likes of Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny, then went on to Boulogne and Guingamp. With Guingamp he won promotion to Ligue 1 in the 2013-14 season and lifted the Coupe de France that year, scoring the extra-time goal against Monaco that sent his side through to the final.
In 2014 Atik signed a two-year contract with Trabzonspor, but was left out of the squad in 2016 after failing to deliver the expected performances. He then signed a two-year deal with Kardemir Karabükspor, and in the most recent stage of his career played for TFF First League side Giresunspor.
