Güven Hokna — Biography

Güven Hokna is a Turkish stage, film and television actress best known for playing Hayriye Tekin in the Kanal D series Yaprak Dökümü. She was born in Ankara on 24 January 1946; her mother was an Armenian from Istanbul and her father came from a family of immigrants from Romania and Bulgaria.

She graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory at Hacettepe University in 1967 and spent 35 years as a company member of the Ankara State Theatre, appearing in dozens of plays from the 1970s through the 1990s.

She moved into television as Suzi in Ferhunde Hanımlar and reached the peak of her career playing Neriman opposite Türkan Şoray and Şener Şen in İkinci Bahar, while her film debut came as Sevim in Yavuz Turgul's Eşkıya (1996).

She went on to appear in Zerda, Kurtlar Vadisi and, reunited with Halil Ergün in 2016, Bana Sevmeyi Anlat, and in the 2019 local elections she was nominated by the Democratic Left Party as its candidate for mayor of Istanbul's Üsküdar district.
