Hadise — Biography

Hadise Açıkgöz, born on 22 October 1985 in Mol, Belgium, grew up in a family with roots in Sivas, Turkey. In 2003 she entered the Belgian talent competition Idool; although she did not win, she received a record deal and began working on her debut. Her first album Sweat, released in 2005, and especially the single Stir Me Up, made her known in both Belgium and Turkey, earning her a TMF Award in Belgium and a Golden Butterfly in Turkey.

Her self-titled second album, released in 2008 with songs in English and Turkish, produced the Turkish number-one hit Deli Oğlan. In 2009 she represented Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow with Düm Tek Tek, finishing fourth with 177 points, while the song topped the Belgian charts. That year she released Fast Life and her first Turkish-language album Kahraman, whose lead single Evlenmeliyiz also charted strongly. She later released Aşk Kaç Beden Giyer? (2011), Tavsiye (2014) and Şampiyon (2017).

Hadise hosted the Belgian edition of The X Factor and served as a judge on O Ses Türkiye from 2011 to 2020. Over her career she has collected numerous honours, including several Golden Butterfly, MTV and TMF awards.
