Hami Mandıralı — Biography

Hami Mandıralı was born on 20 July 1968 in the Arsin district of Trabzon. A forward, he spent nearly his entire playing career with his hometown club Trabzonspor, also turning out for Schalke 04 and Ankaragücü, and represented Turkey at the 1996 European Championship. He is Trabzonspor's all-time leading scorer and assist provider in official matches, and he entered the Guinness World Records for the hardest-struck shot in football history, recorded on free-kick goals against San Marino in Samsun on 28 October 1992 and for Schalke 04 on 29 May 1999.

After retiring as a player he moved into coaching, managing Turkey's under-21 national team as well as clubs including Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor. In August 2025 he was appointed sporting advisor to the president of the Turkish Football Federation, and in April 2026 he signed a new 1.5-year agreement with Trabzonspor.

Throughout 2026 Mandıralı has remained a prominent voice in Turkish football media, regularly commenting on Trabzonspor's form, transfers and coaching staff, and he continues to be an influential figure around the club. His home district of Arsin has also moved to commemorate his name locally, and a book about his life has been announced.
