Hayko Cepkin — Biography

Hayko Cepkin was born on 11 March 1978 in Istanbul to a family of Armenian descent from Yozgat; after graduating from the Getronagan Armenian high school, he studied voice, solfège and piano at Mimar Sinan University. He began his professional music career in 1997, sharing the stage with several well-known Turkish artists and arranging tracks on some of their albums. His debut record, Sakin Olmam Lazım — made in his home studio and issued on EMI in 2005 — was followed in 2007 by Tanışma Bitti, in 2010 by Sandık, in 2012 by Aşkın Izdırabını, in 2016 by Beni Büyüten Şarkılar Vol. 1, in 2020 by Karantina Günlüğü with Burak Malçok, and in 2025 by Sizi Büyüten Şarkılar.

Beyond music, he has also worked on screen: he took a part in the 2008 film Çocuk, narrated the 2012 series Acayip Hikayeler, and performed in the musicals Jekyll & Hyde in 2021 and Dracula in 2024. A lawsuit he filed in 2009 after being insulted on a television program drew wide public attention. In 2026 he was among those asked for information in the "Ahbap" investigation and publicly defended his reputation; that same year he toured eight cities with his "Electric" show.
