James Gist — Biography

James Clough Gist III is an American basketball player born on 26 October 1986 in the İncirlik area of Adana, Turkey. After playing high school basketball at Our Lady of Good Counsel, he attended the University of Maryland, suiting up for the Terrapins from 2004 to 2008, and was drafted by the San Antonio Spurs in 2008.

Standing 2.06 m tall, the forward-center spent the bulk of his career with European clubs. His longest spell came at Panathinaikos, where he won numerous championships and, thanks to his athleticism, dunking ability and defensive contribution, became one of the EuroLeague's most notable power forwards of the 2010s.

Later in his career he returned to Turkey, joining Bahçeşehir Koleji in 2022, before moving on to a club in Uruguay in 2023.
