Jean-Pierre Lorit is a French film and television actor, born on November 29, 1960, in Paris, who began his acting career in 1983 after training at the national drama conservatory. Best known for playing Auguste in Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colors: Red, he has worked across his career with directors including Claude Sautet (Nelly and Mr. Arnaud), André Téchiné (Alice et Martin), and James Ivory (The White Countess).
He has also appeared in An Air So Pure, A Question of Taste, Tell No One, and They Call It Summer. In 2005 he took a stage role in an August Strindberg adaptation alongside Lambert Wilson and his wife, Emmanuelle Devos, a performance that earned him a Molière award nomination the following year.
He has continued working steadily in French film and television through the 2010s and 2020s, with roles in Sam (2017), Clash (2023), and La Légende des 3 Clefs (2023).
