Károly Eperjes — Biography
Hungarian actor Károly Eperjes was born on 17 February 1954 in Hegykő; after training at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, he spent many years as a member of the National Theatre in Budapest and became one of Hungary's most respected stage performers. Active on screen in more than fifty films since 1982, he has appeared in Colonel Redl, Miss Arizona, Sawdust Tales, Hanussen and The Door, and has also worked as a screenwriter and director.
His career has been marked by the Jászai Mari Prize in 1986, the Kossuth Prize -- Hungary's highest arts honor -- in 1999, honorary citizenship of Budapest in 2011, and the Officer's Cross of the Hungarian Order of Merit in 2017, alongside the Prima Primissima Prize, a lifetime achievement award from the Hungarian Film Academy, and a European Film Award nomination. He has also been active in politics.
