Laertis Vasiliou — Biography

Laertis Vasiliou (Albanian: Laert Vasili; born 7 March 1974 in Delvinë) is an Albanian actor, film and theatre director, writer, translator and political commentator. He began acting studies at the Academy of Arts in Tirana in 1993, then relocated to Greece with his family the following year and was admitted to the National Theatre of Greece Drama School in Athens, finishing second among 750 applicants; he graduated in 1997.

Known for his stage and screen roles, Vasiliou has also been a prominent civil-society voice on issues affecting the rights of ethnic Albanians living in Greece, frequently taking part in public debate. His screen credits include Sti skia tou polemou (1999), Hostage (2005) and The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea (2019).
