Leman Çıdamlı — Biography
Leman Çıdamlı was born in Istanbul on 1 January 1932 and worked across Turkish stage, film and television in a career running from 1974 to 2005.
She became a household name playing Nuriye Kantar in Kaynanalar, which began as a 1974 feature film and continued through a television series and later remakes, and she was also remembered for the mother-in-law character Seher, whom she played for roughly a decade in the series Mahallenin Muhtarları. Her credits include the films Köyden İndim Şehire, Kanlı Deniz, Bizim Kız, Bıçkın, Zehir Hafiye and Varyemez, and the series Perihan Abla, Gülşen Abi, Yasemince and Cennet Mahallesi; one of her last roles came in the 2005 film Sen Ne Dilersen.
Treated for lung cancer for several months, she died in Istanbul on 18 December 2012 at 80, shortly after the death of her husband Nejat Çıdamlı, and was buried beside him. Her daughter, Ayşegül Çıdamlı, also became an actress.
