Maïté Nahyr — Biography
Born Nahyr Meerbergen, Maïté Nahyr was a Belgian film and stage actress known for her roles in Roman Polanski's The Tenant (1976), Federico Fellini's City of Women (1980) and Leos Carax's Boy Meets Girl (1984). She was born on 25 October 1947 in Wilrijk, now part of Antwerp, to a family of South American, reportedly Paraguayan, descent.
Alongside her screen career she also worked on stage, appearing at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris in 1985 in Antoine Vitez's staging of Ubu Roi and in Philippe Adrien's La Visite. Later in her career she took roles in Meeting Venus (1991), Pierre Schoendoerffer's Diên Biên Phu (1992) and Cédric Klapisch's Little Nothings (1992).
Maïté Nahyr died of cancer in Marseille on 19 August 2012, at the age of 64.
