Mehmet Batdal — Biography

Mehmet Batdal, born 24 February 1986 in İzmir, was a Turkish footballer who played as a forward and stood 1.95 m tall. He began playing at Bucaspor's youth academy in 1998, turned professional in 2005, and spent the second half of the 2007-08 season on loan at Altay. His form in 2009-10, when his goals helped Bucaspor finish second in the 1.Lig and earn Süper Lig promotion, led Galatasaray to sign him on an 18 May 2010 three-year deal; his only official goal for the club came away to Beograd in a UEFA Europa League qualifying tie.

Unable to secure regular playing time at Galatasaray, Batdal went out on loan to Konyaspor in 2010-11 (limited to three games by injury), to Kardemir Karabükspor in 2011-12 (where he scored his first Süper Lig goal), and back to Bucaspor in 2012-13, where he scored 12 goals in 32 games. After his Galatasaray contract ended he joined İstanbul BB, the club now known as Başakşehir, for the 2013-14 season and helped it win the 1.Lig title. He later went on loan to Osmanlıspor in 2018 and also played for İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, finishing his career at Fatih Karagümrük.

Batdal earned 11 caps for Turkey's under-21 side and received his first call-up to the senior national team in November 2016, for a match against Kosovo. Over his career he won the Süper Lig with Galatasaray in 2011-12 and the 1.Lig with Bucaspor in 2008-09 and 2009-10 and with Başakşehir in 2013-14.
