Mervan Çelik — Biography

Mervan Çelik was born on 26 May 1990 in Gothenburg (Hisingen), Sweden, to a Kurdish family originally from Konya, Turkey, and holds both Swedish and Turkish citizenship. Standing 1.77 m tall, he spent most of his career in midfield and wide attacking positions.

He began his professional career in Sweden with GAIS, then moved to Rangers in Scotland before returning to GAIS for a spell due to financial difficulties at the club. He spent the 2012-13 season in Italy's Serie A with Delfino Pescara 1936, before transferring to Gençlerbirliği in July 2013 and to Akhisar Belediyespor in August 2015. Later in his career he also played for Häcken and Fatih Karagümrük, and he represented Sweden at youth international level.
