Mustafa Doğan — Biography
Mustafa Doğan, born in 1976 in the village of Dedeçam in the Yalvaç district of Isparta, is a German former footballer of Turkish descent who later worked as a coach and television commentator. His family moved to Duisburg, Germany, when he was two; he started out at the small club TV Asberg and put pen to paper on his first pro deal at KFC Uerdingen 05, appearing for that side in both the second and first Bundesliga during 1994. In 1996 the central defender moved to Fenerbahçe, where over seven seasons he won the Süper Lig title in 2000-01 along with the Prime Minister's Cup in 1997-98 and the Atatürk Cup in 2000. He returned to Germany with 1. FC Köln in 2003 at coach Friedhelm Funkel's invitation, then joined Beşiktaş in 2004, winning the Turkish Cup twice before injuries ended his career in 2007-08.
Capped 19 times for Germany's under-21 side, Doğan also earned two senior caps, at the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup and in a European qualifier. After retiring he moved into broadcasting and now works for beIN SPORTS Türkiye; he has also coached, including at an amateur club and as an assistant to Mustafa Denizli at Eskişehirspor in 2017.
