Mustafa Yumlu — Biography

Mustafa Yumlu was born on 25 September 1987 in Trabzon; some sources say his real birth year is 1988. He began playing football at six in his village club Aydınlıspor, joined Trabzonspor's youth system in 1999, and left it four years later when his physical development lagged behind his peers. After three years at the amateur club İdmanocağı, he moved to Arsinspor in 2006-07 and was then loaned to 1461 Trabzon (then Değirmenderespor) in the Third League, scoring the winning penalty in the play-off final that promoted the club.

He transferred to Trabzonspor in 2008, and after a second loan spell at 1461 Trabzon, where he served as captain, he joined the senior squad in 2010-11 under coach Şenol Güneş, scoring in his Süper Lig debut against Beşiktaş. His contract was extended to 2015-16, but he was later left out of the squad for a period under Vahid Halilhodzic after objecting to the captain's armband being given to another player, and was loaned to Eskişehirspor.

He moved to Akhisar Belediyespor in January 2017 and won the 2017-18 Turkish Cup and the 2018 Turkish Super Cup with the club, having already received the Lassa Best Defender award in 2014; his only national-team appearance came in a 2011 friendly for Turkey's A2 side against Belarus's A2 side. He went on to play for Denizlispor and, from 2021, for Erzurumspor FK, where as captain in the 2025-26 season he and teammate Eren Tozlu helped lead the club to promotion to the Süper Lig after a five-year absence. He married Fatma Mazlum in December 2012.
