Necmi Perekli — Biography
Necmi Perekli is a former Turkish footballer, born in 1948 in Gümüşhane. A striker, he played for Giresunspor in 1972-73, Beşiktaş the following season and Altay in 1974-75 before joining Trabzonspor, where he became one of the best-known members of the club's legendary squad.
With Trabzonspor he won the Süper Lig in 1975-76 and 1976-77, and in the second of those seasons he scored 18 goals in 22 appearances to finish as the league's top scorer, the first Trabzonspor player to do so. He also won the Turkish Cup in 1976-77 and 1977-78, the President's Cup three times and the Prime Minister's Cup twice. For many years he was the club's only top scorer, until Şota Arveladze matched the feat in 1995-96, and for longer still its only home-grown one, until Fatih Tekke did so in 2004-05.
He was capped five times for Turkey's national sides, three of them for the senior team. After his playing days he worked as a football manager at Trabzonspor, wrote about football, became a pundit, and was a sports writer for the newspaper Fotomaç.
