Ogün Sanlısoy — Biography

Born Saim Ogün Sanlısoy on 12 March 1971 in Gölcük, the son of a naval officer, he studied industrial design at Mimar Sinan University and picked up electric guitar at seventeen. In 1992 he joined the thrash metal band Pentagram, known abroad as Mezarkabul, singing on its Trail Blazer album and earning readers' polls for best rock vocalist in 1993-94. Wanting the group to record in Turkish, he left to pursue a solo path; his 1999 debut album could not be promoted after an earthquake struck. Songs he began writing during military service became the basis of "Saydım," the standout track of his 2004 album O Gün, released through Sony Music. Further albums cemented his standing in Turkish rock, and in 2023 he issued the EP "Gel." In September 2026 he announced he was leaving Pentagram again, alongside bandmates Metin Türkcan and Murat İlkan.
