Ömer Bayram — Biography

Ömer Bayram (born 27 July 1991 in Breda, Netherlands) is the son of a Turkish family originally from Kayseri, and plays as a left back or midfielder, holding both Dutch and Turkish citizenship. He came up through the youth academies of PCP, Baronie and NAC Breda, signed his first professional contract in 2009, and made his Eredivisie debut for NAC Breda during the 2009-10 season. Although he had interest from Dutch youth national teams, he chose to represent Turkey, debuting for the Turkish under-18 side in 2009 and going on to earn a total of eight caps and one goal across the under-19 and A2 categories.

He left NAC Breda for Kayserispor in 2012, wearing the number 38 shirt in reference to the vehicle registration code of Kayseri, his family's home province; he was relegated with the club before helping it return to the Süper Lig as second-tier champions. In 2016 he signed a three-year deal with Akhisar Belediyespor and helped the club win its first trophy, the 2017-18 Turkish Cup. He joined Galatasaray in August 2018, where he won the Süper Lig, the Turkish Cup and the Turkish Super Cup; his contract was extended for three years in 2021 before being ended by mutual consent in 2022. He went on to play for Eyüpspor, then Amed Sportif Faaliyetler, before joining Sarıyer in 2025.

Known as a childhood friend of Liverpool and Netherlands defender Virgil van Dijk, Bayram made headlines in 2026 with comments about a possible transfer of Van Dijk to Galatasaray.
