Önder Çengel — Biography
Önder Çengel was born on 21 July 1982 in Kahramanmaraş; a striker who holds both Turkish and Swiss citizenship, he began his football career in the youth system of Switzerland's Grasshopper club and turned professional at FC Baden. At the start of the 2004-05 season, champions Fenerbahçe tried Çengel and Gökhan İnler at their pre-season training camp in Germany, but coach Christoph Daum decided against signing either player. In 2005 he joined Diyarbakırspor, where he made only two unused substitute appearances.
Çengel signed a three-year contract with Gaziantepspor in 2007 and moved to FC Winterthur the same year, transferring from there to Karşıyaka at the start of the 2008-09 season. After a season there he played for FC Schaffhausen and FC Chiasso, before returning to Turkey on 27 August 2010 by re-signing with Diyarbakırspor. Problems at the club led him to leave mid-way through the 2010-11 season for Kartalspor, and he moved on to Elazığspor half a season later. He joined Şanlıurfaspor at the start of the 2012-13 season, and the two sides mutually terminated his contract on 29 March 2013.
