Önder Karaveli — Biography

Önder Karaveli (born 26 March 1974 in Istanbul) is a Turkish football coach and former player, standing 1.83 m tall, who moved into coaching after ending his playing career.

Trained under Serpil Hamdi Tüzün, Karaveli worked in the youth academies of Beşiktaş and other clubs from 2000 onward. After Sergen Yalçın resigned on 9 December 2021, he was appointed caretaker manager of Beşiktaş, a role that ended up lasting around 52 days before he was confirmed as full head coach on 13 January 2022 at a press conference alongside club chairman Ahmet Nur Çebi. He stepped down of his own accord in March 2022, moving into a youth-development coordination role once Valérien Ismaël took over as head coach; with Beşiktaş he also won the 2021 Turkish Super Cup. He went on to manage Adanaspor from September 2022 and Eskişehirspor from 2023, then joined Trabzonspor in June 2024 as Abdullah Avcı's assistant coach, leaving that post in August 2024 when Avcı departed the club.

Alongside his touchline roles, he has also appeared in the media in recent years as a football pundit.
