Özcan Köksoy — Biography
Mehmet Özcan Köksoy was born on 16 November 1940 in Istanbul. A defender, he began his professional career in 1959 with Fatih Karagümrük, for whom he played two seasons in the top-flight Millî Lig before moving to Fenerbahçe.
He wore the Fenerbahçe shirt for nine seasons, from 1960 to 1969, and in that time won four league titles, one Turkish Cup and one President's Cup. The press and supporters still called him a "Fenerbahçe legend" when he died.
His international career was brief: he won a single cap for the senior Turkey national team in 1965 and also made one appearance for the under-21 side. Özcan Köksoy died in Istanbul on 23 March 2022, aged 81; Fenerbahçe announced his death and the news was widely reported in the national press.
