Özgür Öcal — Biography

Özgür Öçal is a Turkish footballer born on 5 October 1981 in Istanbul who played as a midfielder throughout his career. He began playing football in Galatasaray's youth academy but was released after being judged not good enough for the first team. In 2000 he signed a professional contract with Bakırköyspor, where he played regularly for four seasons.

He then moved to Kasımpaşa, where he took part in a rare achievement, helping the club climb continuously from the Third League to the Süper Lig over four seasons. After Kasımpaşa was relegated from the Süper Lig the following season, he transferred to Eskişehirspor, but struggled to settle in and was loaned out to MKE Ankaragücü mid-season. He spent the next season back on loan at his former club Kasımpaşa before returning there permanently in 2010-11.

Later in his career Öçal agreed to join Adana Demirspor, before transferring to Alanyaspor on 18 January 2015. He then spent the 2015-16 season with Adanaspor before retiring from professional football. Over his career he won the 2011-12 First League and 2004-05 Third League Group 3 titles with Kasımpaşa, and the 2015-16 First League title with Adanaspor.
