Raci Şaşmaz — Biography

Tayyar Raci Şaşmaz, who is of Zaza descent, was born on 30 October 1973 in Elazığ and graduated from Marmara University's Radio and Television Department. He is the brother of actor Necati Şaşmaz and the elder brother of director Zübeyr Şaşmaz.

He wrote Osman Sınav's series Deli Yürek (1998) and its 2001 spin-off film Deli Yürek: Bumerang Cehennemi, as well as the series Avcı that same year. He then began writing Kurtlar Vadisi (2003), where he also appeared on screen as the character Ali Candan; through Pana Film, which he founded in 2004, he wrote and produced the series along with Ekmek Teknesi, Eşref Saati and Ayrılık, and the films Kurtlar Vadisi Irak (2006), Muro (2008), Kurtlar Vadisi Gladio (2009) and Kurtlar Vadisi Filistin (2011).

At the end of 2013, during the eighth season of Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, he left the company following a dispute with his brother and turned to investments in construction, tourism and industry. In 2015 he founded Pana Yapı and returned to writing and producing with Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz; in 2019, unable to pay the cast's salaries, he transferred the show's production to ATV İç Yapımlar.
