Rafet El Roman — Biography

Born Rafet Yaşdut on 25 August 1968 in the Havsa district of Edirne, Rafet El Roman is a Turkish musician, singer, songwriter, composer and actor who also holds German citizenship after settling there with his family in his youth. He wrote his first lyrics and compositions at the age of sixteen, took his first steps on stage in 1988, and was recognized as a rising talent in Germany in 1992.

From the 1990s onward, his emotionally charged songs made him one of the most beloved names in Turkish pop music, and he also appeared on screen in the film Propaganda (1999). In 2026 he drew renewed media attention after deciding to restore his childhood home in Havsa and turn it into a memorial to his roots, while continuing to perform live at concerts in cities such as Nuremberg and Dubai.
