Raşit Bağzıbağlı — Biography

Raşit Bağzıbağlı is a fashion designer of Cypriot origin, known for his couture work, his own label Rashid and a seat on a television jury. He carried his family's background in the fabric trade into fashion.

He came to design as the third generation of the Bağzıbağlı fabric stores, which his family opened in 1957. While still studying fashion design he was already creating his own clothing designs. His professional couture work began in 2007. The year 2010 was decisive: he won a number of awards in Turkey and Cyprus and was named Best Young Designer of the Year at the Face of Fashion competition in New York. He also created the uniforms, logo and emblems of the TRNC Police.

In 2014 he was named Fashion Designer of the Year at the Fashion TV Awards and unveiled the collection of the Rashid brand. He has worked with Tülin Şahin, Bergüzar Korel and Tuba Büyüküstün, and served on the jury of the Kanal D programme Yeni Bir Ben with Tuvana Büyükçınar and Şebnem Dönmez.
