Rızvan Şahin — Biography
Rızvan Şahin (born 30 October 1981 in Çayeli, Rize) is a Turkish former footballer who played as a defender and is now a football manager. He began playing in the Çayelispor youth system before moving to the Çaykur Rizespor academy, reaching the first team in 2001; unable to secure playing time there, he was loaned out in turn to Çaykurspor, Hopaspor and Pazarspor. His most productive season came in 2002-03 at Pazarspor, where he scored 4 goals in 27 matches; the club signed him outright in 2003-04 and he remained a regular there for two more seasons.
In the closing days of the 2005-06 transfer window he moved to newly founded İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor, which was aiming for promotion to the Süper Lig, and went on to spend eight seasons with the club. He helped the side finish second and win promotion to the Süper Lig in 2006-07, and in 2010-11 he played through to the Turkish Cup final, which the team lost to Beşiktaş on penalties. Later in his time there his playing time fluctuated, but he remained part of the squad even when the club was relegated to the PTT 1. Lig in 2013-14. He is also said to have later played for Giresunspor across several seasons before moving on to Kardemir Karabükspor.
After retiring as a player he moved into coaching, and in July 2025 he was appointed head coach of 3. Lig side Yıldırımspor. On 7 January 2026 he was referred to Turkish football's Disciplinary Committee on match-fixing grounds as part of a betting-scandal investigation.
