Sabahattin Usta — Biography

Sabahattin Usta was born in 1990 in Montbéliard, France, to a Turkish immigrant worker family; sources give his exact birth date as either June or July 1990. He started out in local amateur youth academies before being spotted by scouts from the French club Bordeaux and joining its academy. While there he began to be called up to Turkey's under-18 national team.

That form caught the attention of Süper Lig clubs in Turkey, and he transferred to Gençlerbirliği at the start of the 2008-09 season; despite holding a professional contract, he mostly featured for the youth and A2 teams. He made his first-team debut on 14 February 2010 in a Süper Lig match against Kasımpaşa and played one further Süper Lig match that season. In 2010-11 he was loaned to Second League side Hacettepe for experience, then transferred to First League club Boluspor at the start of 2011-12. He signed with Kızılcahamamspor in 2012-13.

Later in his career he also played for Oftasspor, left Petrolspor in 2016, and subsequently joined Serik Belediyespor. He was called up to Turkey's under-18 national team 12 times, winning 10 caps and scoring one goal.
