Samet Akaydın — Biography
Born in Trabzon on 13 March 1994, Samet Akaydın is a 1.90-metre centre-back who came through local youth clubs before signing his first professional contract with Arsinspor in 2013; after spells at Sancaktepe, Şanlıurfaspor and Keçiörengücü, he moved to Adana Demirspor in early 2021, where his form earned him a national-team call-up.
He joined Fenerbahçe for 3.7 million euros in the winter of the 2022-23 season, then spent 2023-24 on loan at Greek club Panathinaikos; the loan ended when he was dropped for refusing to delete a social-media post marking Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's memorial day, and he returned to Turkey. Back at Fenerbahçe, he moved to Çaykur Rizespor in winter 2025 before joining hometown club Trabzonspor on a free transfer on 1 July 2026, on a lucrative new deal. A regular for Turkey, Akaydın scored his first international goal in the UEFA Euro 2024 quarter-final and was later named in Turkey's 2026 World Cup squad; he is known for his quick, powerful, combative style.
